01 / The beginning

Start close. Keep improving.

The project began with a simple question: could a travel channel grow into a substantial audience? Friends and family gave the first videos an initial audience and feedback. From there, the work was to publish consistently and make each video more useful, more visually compelling and easier to discover.

The guiding principle was to give people a reason to follow: quality travel stories with practical value, built step by step.

02 / The content system

Destinations people wanted to explore.

Walking Wanderer focused on routes, tourist places, local experiences and destination guides. Topics such as Manali, Kullu and Leh–Ladakh served both people planning a trip and people looking for inspiration.

Each upload became another entry point into a searchable video library. Titles, visuals and clear information helped the work remain useful well beyond its first days online.

03 / Performance across platforms

Depth on YouTube. Discovery on Instagram.

YouTube · Popular videos

More than one breakout

The four highest-view videos visible in the supplied channel screenshot show approximately 6.8M, 6.2M, 4.6M and 4.2M views: more than 21.8M combined. Their destination-led subjects helped build a broad back catalogue rather than relying on one video.

YouTube · Long-form viewing

Useful content held attention

A Leh–Ladakh bike trip video shows 4.63M lifetime views and a 3:51 average view duration, or 32.8% of its approximately 11:47 runtime. The analytics curve shows views continuing to accumulate over time.

Instagram · Reels

Short-form extended the story

The supplied “Kaisdhar Kullu” reel screenshot shows about 1M views, 69K likes and 6.5K saves. An “Incredible Himachal” reel shows 863K views, 56K likes and 4.1K saves.

Ongoing activity

The library kept working

A supplied 48-hour YouTube snapshot shows 10,709 views. Several videos also contribute to the 4.31M hours of lifetime watch time shown in analytics.

04 / The takeaway

Useful content can compound.

The working approach was straightforward: understand what travellers want to see or know, make the useful version, package it clearly, publish regularly and learn from each result. YouTube offered depth and searchable guides; Instagram added visual discovery around the same travel identity.

The screenshots show the reach and longevity of that body of work. They support the pattern, though they cannot isolate the effect of any one tactic.
